VISIT

Our cats will be happy to see you!  During this time, it is best to schedule an appointment prior to visiting.  Occupancy will be limited to provide social distancing for the humans and we ask that visitors be 8+ for now.  Walk-ins are great too as long as there is space available.  The link is above or you can call us at 508-4278.

You can enter our building through a dual front door.  Only one door will open at a time but please still watch for cats in case they are feeling curious about the outdoors.  You can purchase your $8 per person hour-long admission and then enjoy cat happiness!  We have cat-themed merchandise, baked goods, and drinks as well.

We have free WiFi and plenty of charging stations so you can work on your laptop if you’d like.  We also have board games, puzzles, and many spots to sit and cuddle cats.  We have lots of cat toys to entertain the cats which, in turn, will entertain us.

Please leave your own cats at home as we don’t know how they would interact with the cats here.  But do show us photos of your cats – we love to see cute cats!

We charge $8/hour admission for this unique and fun experience in a comfy environment. This small entry fee helps us cover rent, wages, utilities, food, and supplies for the large open home for our kitties. 100% of adoption proceeds go directly to our shelter partners to help them cover medical care and vetting costs.

We have a few rules to keep everyone happy and safe:

- When making a reservation, please read the additional guidelines related to COVID protection.

- Please be gentle with the cats and do not pick them up to ensure you do not get scratched.

- If a tail starts flicking or a cat acts irritable, please give them some space.

- Our cats love that you want to take their pictures!  Just please do not use a flash.  Be sure to tag us -

    Thank you!

During this time, we ask that only adults and kids 8+ visit.  We require that our younger folks be respectful of the cats and other visitors by keeping their voices low and being very gentle with the felines.  Adults and kids alike must be gentle and respectful or we will kindly ask you to view the kitties from outside.

We will be closed on the following holidays:  Easter, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.  We will close early at 4 pm on July 4th, Halloween, New Years eve, and Christmas Eve.

We proudly display art from the Public Academy for Performing Arts.  You can purchase the artwork and a variety of fun cat products from our gift shop.

ADOPTION INFO

Catopia Cat Cafe follows the adoption policies of Albuquerque Animal Welfare, Bernalillo County Animal Care Center, and our rescue group partners to ensure happy, successful life-long adoptions for cats and adopters alike.  We have adoption applications that you can fill out at Catopia or online.  Please understand that the final decision on adoptions is made by the shelter or rescue the cat is from. Catopia is a foster home caring temporarily for the cats and we just help facilitate the adoptions.

If you do not find the cat you are looking for, our partners have many more cats (and dogs too!) that are wonderful and adoptable.  You can visit cabq.gov/pets, bernco.gov/animal-care-services, streetcathub.org, desertpawsnm.org, and hdcra.org, for more information.

We recommend taking your new family member to your veterinarian or, if you don’t have one yet, we highly recommend Dr. Kacie Martin. Dr. John HeidrichDr. Lauryn Spohn. Dr. Beth Falk, and the great people at La Cueva Animal Hospital4 Paws Pet Hospital and Albuquerque Cat Clinic. Most veterinary offices offer free first exams when adopting a rescue or shelter cat.

If your current pets do not welcome your new cat or you cannot keep the cat you adopted for any reason, please let us know and we can offer assistance or help get them back to our place to find them another home.

Adoption payments for Albuquerque Animal Welfare and Bernalillo County Animal Services cats can be cash or check and will go directly to them to help more animals in their care.  The rescue group adoption fees are collected by them at the time of adoption.  Your adoption fee includes: spay/neuter surgery, testing for FeLV and FIV, microchip and registration fee, FVRCP vaccination, Rabies vaccination, treatment for parasites (fleas, worms), Cat/Kitten care booklet, information and questions answered, and the first vet appointment free.
